 GBARPOLU RURAL COMMUNITY FINANCE INSTITUTION (G-RCFI) SHORT HISTORY 

 

Gbarpolu Rural Community Finance Institution is located in the Western region of Liberia in Bopolu City, Gbarpolu County and is the fourth in the network of the RCFIs or MC2 to be established with locally available financial resources generated from its shareholders through share capitals to provide rural financial services and improve the lives of the poor people. The RCFI catchment area covers the three electoral districts in Gbarpolu County. However, the RCFI serves its surrounding towns and villages near Gbarpolu County. The RCFI was established on June 28, 2014 and was officially opened to the public on July 01, 2014. The RCFI have six (6) management staffs including: Manager, Accountant, Loan Officer, Teller, Office Assistant and Janitor. 

 

 

  All staffs and board members are shareholders of the Gbarpolu RCFI. The Gbarpolu RCFI or MC2 is governed by five board of directors as stated below:

The major commercial activities in the catchment areas are (Agriculture on a subsistent scale), petty trades, SMEs operators, ETC, ETC 

 

The vision of Bopolu RCFI is to be a rural based financial institution committed to deepening financial inclusion in its area of operations by providing customer centered financial services.  

 

The Mission of Bopolu RCFI is to provide financial services to different groups in the community which then enable them expand opportunities for improving their livelihoods while contributing to nation building.

Bopolu RCFI provides many products and services to her customers and the communities, for example: 

Deposits, Withdrawals, Selling of Shares/ Mobilization of shares, MTN & Orange mobile money transactions, Civil Servants salaries payment, GOL Overdraft or Salary Advances, Loans, Remittance Services (local Transfer & Money gram) ETC. 

 

Structure and Initial Capital: 

The Bopolu RCFI Building was built by Ministry of Finance for Civil Servants Salaries Payment before the establishment of the RCFI. 

The community contributed and Central Bank of Liberia helps to start the Institution running. From 2014 till now the Bopolu RCFI has continued to grow in customer’s base, shares mobilization, and all the available products and services.
